Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Himal Installation for Windows and Macintosh
(1) While authenticating the Himalayan Database, after starting the Himal program and then inserting the Himalayan Database CD, I get the error message “Authentication file not found”.
The most likely cause of this message is that your computer is taking a long time to mount the CD due to a virus scanning program that is searching the CD, thus causing the Himal program to time-out. Try mounting the CD before starting the Himal program.
Himal Installation for Windows
(1) After installing the Himalayan Database, I get the error message “Cannot locate the Microsoft Visual FoxPro support library” when I try to run the Himal program.
The most likely cause of this message is that during the installation of the Himalayan Database, you did not click on the large button (marked by the red box) in the Himalayan Database Setup screen. This is the step that installs the Microsoft Visual FoxPro support library.
Himal Updating for Windows and Macintosh
(1) When updating the Himalayan Database, I get the error message “Expedition log file error.”
The most likely cause of this message is that you have not applied an earlier update before applying this update, e.g., applying a 2005 update before the 2004 update is applied. All updates must be applied in sequential order.
